Sutra 15 - Fast


Feeling a little under the weather. Body is just a machine and an occasional breakdown is normal. The easiest way to recuperate is to consider fasting. Fasting rests the digestive system and allows the body to concentrate on repairing the system. And don’t worry, you are not going to starve to death. Body keeps up to a month’s reserve of food. So skipping a meal occasionally is not going to hurt.

You can also go on juice fasts (avoid solid foods). An all vegetable meal on a weekend also ensures you have enough energy for the rest of the week.

Many of these fasts were intelligently incorporated into the calendar in the Indian culture. It may be wise to revisit them. More on fasting plans in later posts.
